NEXT Weather Alert: Heat advisory in effect during Minnesota State Fair's opening day
MINNEAPOLIS -- A heat advisory will be in effect for most of Thursday, with a good chance of the first 90-degree opening day of the Minnesota State Fair in a decade.
The Twin Cities on south will be under that advisory through 7 p.m. Thursday.
Early fairgoers will enjoy temps in the 70s Thursday morning, but we will quickly warm up in the afternoon hours, and it will still be quite humid.
Most of northern Minnesota will be in the low 80s Thursday, while central Minnesota will be in the upper 80s. The metro and other southern Minnesota communities will deal with the low 90s, which is about 10 degrees above average.
Dew points will gradually leave the muggy zone by midday Friday, and temps will cool into the mid-80s.
There's a chance for some scattered showers Friday morning in southern Minnesota, and in the metro in the afternoon.
We've all earned the weather coming our way this weekend, with highs in the upper 70s Saturday and the low 80s Sunday, with no humidity in sight. This trend will carry into early next week.
